‘Basement Bros,’ The YouTube Show – Bright (Spoiler Review)!

Mike and Ben review Netflix’ first major “blockbuster” (hint: they both thought it was okay at best… saved you 21 minutes).

NOTE: This was recorded before it was reported that Ayer would be returning to direct the sequel.

If you’re so inclined, feel free to play one of our NSFW vids in the background, and see if you get a laugh. If you don’t like it, no worries. Thanks for checking us out. We’re open to suggestions, but we may promptly ignore them. And if you find us offensive, simply don’t watch. Easy peasy, lemon-squeezy.

Thanks for your time. I’ll see you in the comments, bros.

  • I’m the king of late replies. No worries 🙂

  • I guess I dodged it– I just said he’s in “hot water”– I honestly find all the accusations exhausting to talk about. And I feel like there’s nothing else we’re going to add to the conversation at this point. I like that the Echo/Alexa/timer sort of keeps us on topic.

P.S. Sorry about the really late response. I sort of toss out these posts and then move on. Don’t hesitate to tag me if I don’t respond.

hahaha It’s in the second half of the movie but I couldn’t say at which point but not *that* far from the end. So, middle of the second half? 😉

  • King Alvarez

Since I watched it at work, I missed the Mendes shot. Will need to revisit it for historical purposes.

  • King Alvarez

Triple 9 was pretty good. I ended up watching Training Day after I posted this. Solid flick.

  • Tanis11

I thoroughly enjoy both of them. If you like those, other cop films along the same lines that are more recent would be Brooklyn’s Finest and Triple 9.

  • Poppity⛄

Training Day is rather ‘meh’ although it has a few interesting moments. It was a joke that Denzel received an Oscar for this role; even he knew it at the time. If you like ridiculous corrupt cop stories, then this could be up your alley. Perhaps one of the only memorable moments is the full frontal of Eva Mendes a slight bit before her prime.

  • This was a fun watch. Ripley needs more screentime. It’s entertaining to see her sniff the camera lol.

Also, really surprised you didn’t bring up the Landis accusations. I despised him/his personality before them, though.

  • King Alvarez

Not in the shower he wouldn’t. Dude’s hung like a… nevermind.

  • Good question. Whatever the case, that dude would sure as hell get a lot ribbing from his precinct.

  • King Alvarez

I must have missed the Centaur too. So they made a big stink about an Orc being a cop, but they were cool with a Centaur officer?

  • King Alvarez

Weirdly, I’ve never seen Training Day or End of Watch.

  • Joe Newman

They needed three wands to bring back Sauron-I mean Voldemort-I mean “The Dark Lord”.

  • I wouldn’t say I bash him, but I talk about him at the 12-minute mark.

  • Do you bash Landis in the video? If so at what time!

  • I couldn’t believe I forgot Chronicle.
I also need to check out Dirk Gently.
As I said in the video, he’s a great idea man but I’ve yet to love any of his films. Maybe Matthew Vaughn could “fix” one of his concepts, similar to the Mark Millar adaptations.

  • I still gotta read this.

Chronicle is Max’s biggest claim to fame. Semi related to Bright, season 2 of Dirk Gently has some parallels to Bright. Max is also the “creator” of that show. The first season was decent, but it appears that someone stopped reigning him in during season 2.
