Christopher McQuarrie, who is currently one of the best action directors of the 2010s thanks to Tom Cruise, has been asked about his involvement in either Man of Steel 2 or Green Lantern Corps.
On being rumored to direct the second solo outing for Henry Cavill’s Superman, McQuarrie said:
To me, I’m interested in a good story. That’s really what it is. I mean, whenMan of Steelcame up, it was because somebody had asked me, did I want to work with Henry again? Which I would in a second. I go through the door that opens.
On if he’d be interested in directing a Tom Cruise-led Green Lanterns film:
You know, I got to say, Tom and I have never talked about it. We always kind of talk about what we’re working on or what we’re talking about working on next. I think, again, I think if you show them a good story, I think if you showed him a really emotional story, I don’t think, you know, it’s, I can never predict. I can never predict what it is he’s going to be drawn to.
McQuarrie has a good working relationship with Cruise (Jack Reacher, Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation & Fallout), so I would be down to see Cruise step into the role of Hal Jordan, especially if he channels some Top Gun Maverick cockiness. Although, seeing what McQuarrie could do with the Superman franchise is just as enticing.
Which film would you rather see McQuarrie direct? Or do you have a completely different DCEU film in mind?
