DC Films Sets Christiana Hodson For ‘Batgirl’ Script; ‘Birds of Prey’ Looking for a Director

Joss Whedon exited Batgirl a little under two months ago, but Warner Bros. and DC Films have finally found a replacement.

According to THR, Christiana Hodson is set to write a new script for the upcoming film. Her recent credits include the upcoming Transformers spinoff Bumblebee, which could be taken as a “uh-oh” sign, but everything I have seen and heard about the spinoff points in the direction that Hodson is the right person for the job.

Hodson also scripted the in development Birds of Prey script, which should be taken as another good sign that Hodson knows her stuff. In fact, The Wrap reports that Warner Bros. is “high” on Hodson’s Birds of Prey script and is currently in the process of finding a director. This upcoming film could also feature Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn, giving the character yet another DCEU film to star in.

The DC Extended Universe has not exactly got off on a good start, but Wonder Woman is an example of just how damn perfect they can strike the nail on the head. I would definitely be interested in a Birds of Prey film, and with Hodson attached to both projects it will be interesting to see if there is any crossover in terms of character arcs and story.

Which directors do you want to see helm Batgirl and Birds of Prey?
