DC Comics was at WonderCon Anaheim and they delivered with a huge bunch of DC Universe updates. Let’s start with what is sure to please a lot of long time DC fans, as well as subscribers to the streaming service: more comics.
DC Universe announced the expansion of their comic book offerings during its Friday night panel at WonderCon. Thousands of single-issue comics will be made available to subscribers with new comics being regularly added into the archive exactly one year after their print publication date. All this comes with no increase in the cost for subscription.
DC Universe Senior Vice President and General Manager Sam Ades said:
“From the time DC Universe launched last year, our fans have loved the comic experience and have asked us for just one thing – more! We’re thrilled to respond to our fans yet again with the incredible value of the ultimate DC digital comics library.”
The casting for the second season of Titans was also confirmed. Chella Man, Joshua Orpin, Esai Morales, and Chelsea Zhang have been cast as Jericho, Superboy, Deathstroke, and Ravager. Season 2 is confirmed for a Fall 2019 release on the streaming service. Harley Quinn is set to premiere once Titans wraps its season 2 run.
Some more release dates include Syfy’s Krypton season 1 joining the streaming service on April 5 and the latest DC animated movie Justice League vs. The Fatal Five being added April 16. Swamp Thing is set to premiere May 31, 2019 with the second half of Young Justice: Outsiders premiering July 2, 2019.
Lastly, we got our first glimpse at Brec Bassinger suited up as Stargirl. Stargirl has been bumped to an early 2020 premiere to accommodate Titans season 2.
