Early Reactions For ‘Captain Marvel’ (2019): It Looks Like Marvel Has Another Hit

Marvel’s newest entry into their cinematic canon was screened for critics, and although there’s a review embargo in place, early reactions are all over Twitter.  And they’re extremely positive.  Brie Larson and Samuel L. Jackson have been praised for their “buddy cop” dynamic and Ben Mendelsohn has been singled out as “scene stealing.”  Effusive tweets also mentioned the 90’s vibe, the soundtrack, and Goose the cat.  One reviewer even compared the style to The First Avenger.

As we all know by now, Captain Marvel is the first film set in the MCU to have one of Marvel Comics’ female heroes as the lead.  That little fact aside, everything that I’ve seen about the movie makes it look like a fun trip to the theater.  Though I was a comic book geek in my youth, Captain Marvel is a character I never knew much about, so I’m looking forward to something a little different here.

Captain Marvel is set in 1995 and follows the story of Carol Danvers, who becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races.  Marvel’s latest adventure hits theaters March 8, 2019

These reactions are spoiler-free, so check them out, True Believer!
