Favorite Jessica Chastain Role

Last time we took a look at Jack Black and his filmography. This time, with Molly’s Game going wide in theaters today, what better time than to look back and discuss the many roles of actor Jessica Chastain.

Chastain has been part of some tremendous films of the last few years. Personally, I think Zero Dark Thirty is some of her finest work. Interstellar and The Martian are some close contenders, but she’s not the star in those films. I haven’t seen Zero Dark Thirty in a few years but it’s definitely one of the more compelling dramas I’ve seen.

What’s your favorite role Jessica Chastain has played? Why? Let us know in the comments below!

Just know going in that it’s not a horror movie. It’s a gothic romance .

Was just gonna ask if that was worth a watch. Guess I will have to check it out.

As much as I would commend everyone on Take Shelter, I myself would say Zero Dark Thirty, with Interstellar and Take Shelter tied for a close 2nd.

  • William Dhalgren

    Take Shelter

  • Jooshua

    Miss Sloane or Coriolanus

I’ve also only seen her in one film, Interstellar but I watched a handful of talk show interviews with her. She seems to have a great personality. It’s hard to believe she’s 40 – she is gorgeous!

  • Joe Newman

I’ve only seen seen her in Interstellar and The Martian, so those.

I remember her being very good in The Debt. I’d like to revisit that film.

Zero Dark Thirty for sure. The Help was pretty good too.

  • ResonanceCascade

Yeah, she was fantastic in Crimson Peak. What a ridiculously underrated movie.

  • Say what you will about the subject matter, but I really liked her in Zero Dark Thirty.

  • Nokoo

    Take Shelter

  • Vincent Kane

    Maggie Beaufort in Lawless.

Huh. Mark Kermode just put up a video detailing his favorite roles of her this morning. How wonderfully coincidental.

Anyway, to answer your question, mine’s a bit complicated: For years I had seen her in plenty of films (off the top of my head: Tree Of Life, Coriolanus, Mama, The Help, Interstellar and The Martian) but the one that truly got me on the Chastain train was Crimson Peak. At once a sympathetic but terrifying character she played in that. Her pain is obvious in it but so is her intelligence and general ferocity, especially in the climax where’s running around in a nightgown slathered in blood and brandishing a giant ass meat cleaver.
