First Official Look at Original 6 Avengers in ‘Endgame’; Movie is Still 3 Hours Long

The new official image above for Avengers: Endgame has been released by Orville Redenbacher as part of a promotion. Steve looks to be back in his Cap persona, Iron Man has a slightly different color scheme paying tribute to the character’s first red/gold combination, Black Widow is a redhead again, and Hulk is looking a lot like Bruce Banner in green face. Professor Hulk?

Meanwhile, directors Anthony and Joe Russo revealed in an interview with Collider that Endgame is still sitting with a three hour runtime:

“I think the studio is down with what the best story is. Right now, we think the movie is playing well and we’ve had great responses from our test audiences and we’re feeling very good about where it is. We’re still doing work to it. We’re not done with it. Again, this is a culmination film of 22 movies, it’s a lot of storytelling to work into it. Emotion is an intrinsic part of that to us. When you have to tell a really complicated story and you want strong emotional moments with the characters, it just requires a certain amount of real estate. This one, in particular, feels like three hours worth of real estate.”

Disney has given the directors permission to keep the film at three hours if audiences continue to respond positively. The current MCU record holder for longest film is Infinity War at two hours and 40 minutes. If Endgame does come in at the three hour mark, Marvel might tack on an intermission break. Alan Cerny, a writer for tweeted that might be the case.

Honestly, I’d rather have an intermission than have to figure out how many sips I can take from my direct within a 15-minute window to make sure I’m not going to have to hold my bladder for an hour. Nobody wants that.

Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26, 2019.

What are your thoughts on the first official look at the original six Avengers and the possibility of a three hour movie with an intermission?
