I don’t know what’s going on. IMDB tries to clear it up:
A young boy searches a future world wasteland for a rumored cure for his dying mother.
That description does not fit the trailer I just watched. I saw some sort of wacky George Miller rip-off from the 80s, with Cyborg and Resident Evil thrown in for good measure (and not just because of Milla Jovovich).
I can tell that this will be criticized– it already has significant downvotes on YouTube. Despite looking so derivative, it looks like a hell of a time. I’m already game for James Franco chewing the scenery. The film also features Snoop Dogg and Method Man, because of course it does.
This is another collaboration from Franco and Bruce Theirry Cheung, who worked on a series called Making a Scene with James Franco. It will be Franco’s follow-up to his Oscar contender, The Disaster Artist.
Future World premieres on-demand and in select theaters on May 25 (and in an ideal world, on VHS). Will you be checking it out?
