Gabriel Luna (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) has just signed on to play the new Terminator in the upcoming Tim Miller-directed, James Cameron-produced untitled Terminator 6. Additionally, Natalie Reyes has been cast in the lead human role as Dani, a “young woman living in a working class Mexican neighbourhood, who finds herself thrust into the battle between humanity and Skynet’s army of killer machines.” Previously cast Diego Boneta will play her brother. Mackenzie Davis is also part of the cast although her role is not clear with some pegging her as a female Terminator and others as a soldier sent back in time to help Boneta and Reyes’ characters.
Linda Hamilton and Arnold Schwarzenegger will be back as their iconic roles, although new reports say they will mostly be brief roles. I am already smelling a third-act saving the new kids’ asses moment from here.
All jokes aside, the new four actors have me intrigued. Luna really shone as Robbie Reyes/Ghost Rider in season 4 of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and I definitely think he can bring something new to the Terminator. I do not have much to go on for the other three cast, but just picturing the four together makes me smile. I am enjoying this lineup 10x more than 2015’s Genisys.
Finally, BossLogic has put together a mockup of what Luna could look like as the Terminator, and I dig it.
Terminator 6 hits theaters November 22, 2019.
