Guillermo del Toro Reveals All His Scripts That Have Gone Unproduced

Guillermo del Toro has taken to Twitter to reveal a list of screenplays he worked on that went unproduced. He reveals that “each script takes about a year, so- more than a decade of work lost”. Here’s his first tweet. If you click on it, it should take you to where you’ll be able to read his thread.

Here’s all the projects he mentioned on Twitter that have been written, but unproduced:

  • At the Mountains of Madness
  • Beauty and the BeastThe Witches
  • The Buried Giant
  • The Coffin
  • The Count of Monte Cristo
  • Drood
  • Fantastic Voyage
  • Haunted Mansion
  • The Hulk (TV Pilot)
  • Justice League Dark
  • List of 7 (Co-written with Mark Frost)
  • Mephisto’s Bridge
  • Nightmare Alley
  • Pacific Rim 2
  • Secret Project (Untitled)
  • Superstitious
  • Wind in the Willows

Holy smokes, that’s a lot of work that will never see the light of day. I remember hearing about del Toro working on Wind in the Willows, Haunted Mansion, and his version of Pacific Rim 2, but the one that instantly pops back into my head is his Hulk pilot. I remember there was talk about ABC doing an 8-episode miniseries on Bruce Banner/The Hulk with del Toro involved. I was honestly excited, mostly because The Hulk was easily the best part of Marvel’s The Avengers and because 2008’s The Incredible Hulk is underrated. However, I recall there being some uncertainty over whether this was actually going to be set in the MCU or not. It looks like it was eventually scrapped.

Which del Toro project mentioned would you most like to see get made? I would love to see his version of the Wind in the Willows.
