‘It’ Star Sophia Lillis to Lead ‘Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase’ for Warner Bros.

has been cast as one of the most iconic teen detectives in literature Nancy Drew in Warner Bros. upcoming adaptation of Nancy Drew Mystery Stories #2 The Hidden Staircase by Carolyn Keene.

This is perfect casting as she looks like Nancy Drew and is the perfect age to portray this iconic teen detective.

Here is the plot synopsis: “The story centers on a pair of elderly sisters and their strange experiences in their Victorian-era house, leading to the duo being accused of murder. Nancy must act quickly to save the sisters from jail.”

Warner Bros. previously adapted this story in 1939 with Bonita Granville as Nancy Drew. However, Nancy Drew was last seen on screen in the 2007 film Nancy Drew which had Emma Roberts in the title role. Unfortunately, it was not nearly as good or memorable as the classics and focused more on high school life than solving the mystery.

Ellen DeGeneres, Jeff Kleeman and Chip Diggins are set to produce with Wendy Williams as an executive producer with filming starting in May. Could WB be setting this film up as a the start of a Nancy Drew blockbuster franchise? We will update you when this film has a director, a release date and new cast members.
