Variety reports Howard The Duck, Hit-Monkey, Tigra and Dazzler and M.O.D.O.K. will be coming to the streaming service, each featuring with some very serious talent involved.
Howard the Duck— the sass talking alien duck last seen in Guardians of the Galaxy 2– will be produced and co-written by Kevin Smith (Clerks) and Adult Swim’s Dave Willis (Aqua Teen Hunger Force and Squidbillies).
M.O.D.O.K. will be about the day in the life of the giant-headed villain whose name means “Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing.” Patton Oswalt (Ratatouille) is co-writing and producing the project.
Hit Monkey is about an assassin monkey, and Josh Gordon and Will Speck (Blades of Glory) are tackling that one. Fun fact: James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy) once pitched Marvel Studios on the idea of making a film based on the character. Marvel fucked up.
And finally, from writers and executive producers Erica Rivinoja and Chelsea Handler comes Marvel’s Tigra & Dazzler Show, about two female superheroes who “…try to get their superpowered heads, hands and hearts around life in the City of Angels.”
Marvel TV head honcho Jeph Loeb said of the shows: “A giant head. A monkey. A tiger lady and a disco queen. And the duck. Brought together because no one else could but Marvel Television on Hulu. M.O.D.O.K., Hit Monkey, Tigra & Dazzler and Howard the Duck will form a team no one asked for — The Offenders (and wait until you see who the Team Leader is!)!” He adds, “We have such tremendous talent bringing amazing adult animation that’s fun, fresh and fantastic. We’re so excited for what’s to come!”
This is surprising news considering Disney just killed all of their live action shows on Netflix; which makes one wonder why they didn’t just make these for their own subscription service, which is coming shortly but since I have no desire to get that service, I’m happy with the decision.
