The first trailer for Mary Shelley, based on the author of the bestselling 1818 text Frankenstein, has been released. Check it out below.
Damn, that was disappointing. After learning about Mary Shelley and Frankenstein countless times over the last couple years I was hoping for something a bit more realistic and dramatic. This looks like it is trying hard to be something it has no chance of being. Unfortunately, the trailer makes it look like a bad romance story, but I will still hold out hope that the final product will be compelling. Mary Shelley’s story does deserve to be told.
Synopsis: Mary Wollstonecraft’s family disapproves when she and poet Percy Shelley announce their love for each other. The family is horrified when it finds that the couple has eloped, accompanied by Mary’s half-sister, Claire. While staying in the home of Lord Byron at Lake Geneva, the guests are challenged to write a ghost story, which leads Mary to conceive her novel “Frankenstein.”
Mary Shelley hits theaters May 28, 2018.
