Movie Maniacs Action Figures from McFarlane Toys Are Coming Back

In 1995, comic book writer Todd McFarlane created an toy line with the sole purpose of producing action figures based on his own comic book characters. Because the 90’s had a huge hard on for anything Spawn related, the toy line was an instant success. It immediately transitioned from strictly being a line of Spawn toys, to including licensed properties such as The Simpsons, Metal Gear Solid and KISS and in 1998, just three years after the line had launched, McFarlane Toys created what would be there most beloved series to date: Movie Maniacs.

Originally the line focused on horror icons from films such as: A Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Halloween, The Blair Witch Project and Darkness Falls (remember that movie?) but then expanded to include non-horror films including: Legend, Escape from L.A., Shaft, The Terminator, Edward Scissorhands and King Kong.

The line was a huge hit with fans and collectors but it eventually died in 2004, with the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake being the last film the line would cover. Is it a coincidence that a terrible film killed the line? I’ll let you be the judge.

But now, almost fifteen years after it was discontinued, Todd McFarlane has wisely decided to bring it back.

Since the original series pretty much covered all of horrors usual suspects, here’s ten possible candidates to restart the line:

10. Billy MurphyThe Final Girls (2015)

09. Victor CrowleyHatchet (Franchise)

08. LolaThe Loved Ones (2009)
