Ryan Reynolds to Voice Title Character in ‘Detective Pikachu’

A few days after Kathryn Newton joined the cast as the female human lead, THR reports that Ryan Reynolds has signed on to voice Detective Pikachu.

Reynolds was one of the four big talent names the film was going after to voice the character. Frankly, Reynolds seems like the best fit as I can’t even imagine a Pikachu sounding like the Rock or Hugh Jackman.

Still, some people are upset that Danny DeVito didn’t get the role, because I guess there was a fan base for that casting decision?! Search it on Twitter to see the proof.

Synopsis: The game follows a peculiar talking Pikachu who, despite not being as powerful and nimble as other Pikachu of his kind, is rather intelligent and claims to be a great detective. One day, Pikachu encounters a boy named Tim Goodman, who is able to understand what he is saying. Thus, the two begin working together to solve various mysteries revolving around Pokémon in the city.

Has this casting made you excited for the film? Or is it still a resounding “meh”? Let us know in the comments below.
