With sequels continuing to be all the rage in Hollywood, here are some updates for Halloween, Jumanji 3, 30 Rock, A Quiet Place 2, and a Tremors recap to close it off.
Speaking with Digital Spy, Jason Blum praised the upcoming Halloween film for staying true to the spirit of the franchise:
“I feel really good about it, I saw a cut of it two nights ago. I think David did a terrific job…He did everything I hoped he would do which is respect the DNA of the franchise and bring something totally new to it and we’re really very very excited for people to see it.”
Halloween hits theaters October 19, 2018.
Next, Dwayne Johnson shared an update on Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and teased that sequel talks have already begun.
It’s official: Last night you made JUMANJI, Sony’s biggest movie ever. EVER. Previous record held by SpiderMan. My #1 goal is always giving the audience what they want and always sending ya home happy. Working on the sequel now, so bye bye @kevinhart4real’s character. 😂🖕🏾 Love y’all 🤟🏾 and THANK YOU. #JUMANJI #SonysBiggestMovieEver #Grateful
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle is currently available on home media.
While talking to THR this past weekend, Jane Krakowski revealed that there have been discussions for a 30 Rock revival:
“[A revival] would be a dream come true. We all had the greatest time on that show. …There’s definitely been talk and conversations. …I know it’s something the fans would love and we would love.”
“We all say over and over again that working on that show was probably the best experience we’re ever going to have in our careers, as far as creativity goes. We’re still so proud of the writing and the great characters. It was such a success and all of those things were amazing.”
“Right now, [reboots are] the trend and I would be thrilled if the trend continued over into 30 Rock.”
30 Rock ran for 7 seasons from 2006-13 on NBC.
A Quiet Place screenwriters Scott Beck and Bryan Woods responded to a question asked by Fandango on if there will be a sequel to the first 2017 horror hit:
“It’s such a fun world. There are so many things you could do. There are so many discarded set pieces, too, just hiding out on Word documents on our computer. So, yeah, there are certainly so many stories you could tell. It’s just really, at the end of the day, who are the characters in this and what does this situation mean to that dynamic?”
A Quiet Place is currently in theaters.
Finally, Burt Gummer (Michael Gross) recaps the first five Tremors films in under three minutes to get you ready for when the sixth film, A Cold Day in Hell, arrives on DVD/Blu-ray May 1, 2018.
