The 100 Most Annoying and Hated Movie Characters Of All Time (50-41)

I wanted to write something here that was riveting and elegant to get you guys engaged with this list like most good writers do. However, seeing how that’s not really my style (not to mention I’m not really capable of that anyways), how about I just get down to brass tacks and let you know my process here, m’kay? It was a pretty thorough and intricate formula in which I simply picked the movie characters I found to be the most annoying and/or hated the most. Some of these characters are just doing their jobs (some a little too well). They are meant to be irritating or vile and the actor pulled that off perfectly. Some of these were intended to elicit joy or be humorous but ended up being obnoxious. Frankly, there are some that I simply just hate with every fiber of my being.

We all have those characters we cannot stand. Some of the entries you may wholeheartedly agree with and some you might be perplexed by their inclusion. Please feel free to share your thoughts and characters you just love to hate – or simply just hate. Enjoy!

This is The 100 Most Annoying and Hated Movie Characters Of All Time.

50. Yon-suk

Played by: Eui-sung Kim

Film: Train to Busan (2016)

It’s not uncommon in horror movies that deal with zombies, creatures etc. to have a main human antagonist for the protagonist to interact against. You usually end up hating them more than whatever the threat is because heck, zombies do what zombies do. But then there is this horrible person being extra horrible in an already horrible situation. Well, that is Yon-suk in Train to Busan. In the midst of an infection breakout where people are rapidly turning into mindless flesh eaters, he is only out for himself. Yon-suk is your typical rich and egotistical corporate type, and when the horror begins around him, he does what is best for him at every turn. He leaves people behind, pushes people toward the horde, blocks others from safety. You can’t blame a zombie for doing zombie things, but you can blame this piece of trash for being lower than a zombie and being the real monster of the film.

49. Dr. Frederick Chilton

Played by: Anthony Heald

Film: The Silence of the Lambs (1991)

Ok, I couldn’t have been the only one wanting to see Hannibal chew this guy’s face off, right? From his hair, to that shit eating grin, hitting on Clarice and the fact he had way too much enjoyment in his job, makes him one of the ultimate sleazebags. Also, he is the putz that inadvertently lets Hannibal Lecter escape for crying out loud. Oh man, what I would have given to see the look on his face when Hannibal asked him to dinner.

48. Shelly

Played by: Larry Zerner

Film: Friday the 13th Part III (1982)

Shelly, Shelly, Shelly. Your only saving grace is that you are the reason for Jason’s iconic hockey mask, but I would have punched you in your left nut if had to be around you for more than five minutes. He is just an irritating goober who is extremely insecure. We know you are just trying to get people to like you, but you are awful at it. Even when you tried doing something heroic it backfired because you are the reason the bikers showed up and siphoned the gas out of the van. Who calls someone a “bitch” under their breath because she doesn’t want to fool around with you? I snickered at your death as well.

47. Robert Doob

Played by: Kiefer Sutherland

Film: Eye for an Eye (1996)

Honestly, this entire list could have been nothing but individuals who abuse and rape women because nothing gets me more upset faster even in film. However, that would have been a bummer of a list. Even though I have only seen this movie one time, this scum has stayed with me. Not just because of the violent rape and murder of a 17-year-old but that her mom had to listen to the whole thing over the phone. He is a disgusting and menacing serial rapist that needs to meet justice or a bullet.

46. Private Hudson

Played by: Bill Paxton

Film: Aliens (1986)

I love Bill Paxton. You love Bill Paxton. We all love Bill Paxton. But was there anyone more irritating than always whining Private Hudson from Aliens. Hudson is that one kid from your childhood that you wanted to slap every time something went wrong, and they wouldn’t stop blubbering. Or better yet, he is the male version of Barbara from Night of the Living Dead. Useless and hysterical who added nothing but annoyance to an already dire situation. And that voice! It was like nails on a chalk board. “That’s it, man. Game over, man. Game over! What the fuck are we gonna do now? What are we gonna do?” He is one of those characters you are just praying they end up dead sooner than later. It’s sad when a little girl has more poise than space marine.

45. Stifler

Played by: Seann William Scott

Film: American Pie [Series]

There is nothing cool or funny about this kid in high school no matter which group you belonged to. Stifler is obnoxious and so over the top to the point he is unbearable before the movie even gets going. You must be in perpetual state of drunkenness to find this guy entertaining or even have him around at all. If you stand out as more of a tool than Chris Klein then you have accomplished something horribly special.

44. Amy Dunne

Played by: Rosamund Pike

Film: Gone Girl (2014)

Oh, this chick is just crazy. I get that your man cheated on you but did on this really need to happen sister? “A woman scorned” doesn’t even do this ordeal justice. This elaborate plan to teach him a lesson by framing him for murder is a bit much. Amy has pretended to be the “cool girl” throughout her entire relationship with Nick that she has been hiding just how messed up she truly is. She even murders an innocent guy! Why not just cut his penis off like a rational woman would? This whole thing was just ludicrous and made me hate this movie. Pike did a fine job, but it was nauseating after a certain point.

43. Jacob Black

Played by: Taylor Lautner

Film: Twilight [Series] (2008-2012)

By now y’all should know my love for all things Twilight but there is one person that I couldn’t stand which is wolf boy Jacob Black. Just the way he would say, “Bella” would make my skin crawl. Not to mention he is the worst actor of the series which saying quite a lot. There is nothing worse than someone pining over another person who clearly doesn’t want you and is in love with someone else. He just comes off as a whiner and only grows a pair when he figures out he can turn into a werewolf. He is in some of the most uncomfortable scenes of the entire series. That’s not coincidence. It’s because of Jacob and Taylor’s acting. No, that doesn’t make me Team Edward. I’m Team Anna Kendrick all the way.

42. Foxxy Cleopatra

Played by: Beyoncé

Film: Austin Powers in Goldmember (2002)

I absolutely love Mike Myers (which I talked about in the #60 entry) and the Austin Powers films. After watching this one, it just didn’t hit home like the previous two films did. I chalked it up to just the same old shtick one too many times, some of the same jokes just a told a bit differently etc. After a recent rewatch, it really hit me that I actually like a lot of scenes and find most of it pretty funny except for when Foxxy is on screen. I didn’t care for her then and that hasn’t changed. She just simply annoyed me and added nothing. She didn’t have the attitude and sass that I think was needed to make this character work. It could also have a lot to do with the fact I just don’t care for Beyoncé.

41. Colonel William Tavington

Played by: Jason Isaacs

Film: The Patriot (2000)

If there was a hall of fame for actors who are perfectly cast as hated jerks, Jason Isaacs would be a first ballot inductee. He is so damn good at it. Tavington is a sociopath and brutal leader of a special battalion of the British military during the Revolutionary War. He is all about winning. He doesn’t care about honor or dignity in success or defeat. His tactics are very questionable. He shoots prisoners of war, has no problem killing women and children and his smug bravado during these actions are what makes him despicable. Even his commanding officers are embarrassed by his tactics, but his effective results give him some leeway. The worst is delight in not only shooting a child but also rubbing the fathers nose in it. Doesn’t take long for to hate this character once he is on screen.
