My confidence Luca Guadagnino appears to be paying off.
It’s easy to be skeptical about remakes these days but not all of them can be bad. Hell some of the best films in American cinema are remakes: The Magnificent Seven (Seven Samurai), The Thing (The Thing From Another World) and The Departed (Internal Affairs) all show great competency in either updating their sensibilities or just outright being damn good movies on their own merits. And by the looks of it, the upcoming remake of Suspira by Call Me By Your Name filmmaker Luca Guadagnino appears to be ready to join the ranks of elite remakes. Take a look for yourself:
Not going to lie: I absolutely LOVE how this looks. The color grading and usage of slow zooms make it seem so perfectly in place with something out the 70’s. Plus according to Guadagnino, this remake will not be a simple rehash of the original but more of a reinterpretation of the original story covering new themes (primarily motherhood). Count me in on this baby!
Suspiria is to be released on the 2nd of November 2018.
