CBR revealed that Young Justice: Outsiders, the third season of the previously cancelled TV show that ran from 2010-13, is one step closer to premiering. Over the weekend, at a C2E2 panel, Khary Payton (the voice of Aqualad in Young Justice) revealed that the voice work for the show is finshed:
“We’re just waiting for the animation to come back. I’ve already seen some of it. It looks great. [The new season will be] full of so many characters, I can’t wait for you guys to see it. You’re going to love it.”
Outsiders is said to take place several years after the season 2 finale and “deal with metahuman trafficking and a genetic arms race said to span the entire galaxy.” It will be interesting to see just who shows up on the show, but we know Nolan North will be back as Superboy and Superman with Alyson Stoner as Batgirl, and Marina Sirtis as Queen Bee.
Young Justice: Outsiders looks to be following the same production path as DC’s other upcoming streaming show, the live-action, Titans (Teen Titans fans are going to get a lot to love this year). It looks like DC is aiming for their streaming service to launch with these two shows as there “subscribe-to-us” original content. Hey, it might just work.
DC’s streaming service also has a Harley Quinn adult animated series in development. Young Justice: Outsiders will run for 26 episodes and premiere later this year.
