Uncharted, a game series involving a globetrotting, Indiana Jones-esque treasure hunter by the name of Nathan Drake and his mentor Victor “Sully” Sullivan has been courted by Hollywood for years now, with numerous failed attempts by directors such as: David O’ Russell (who cast Mark Wahlberg, Robert De Niro & Joe Pesci as a treasure hunting family), Seth Gordon (Jenson Ackles of Supernatural was rumored to be attached), Neil Berger (of Divergent) and Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg were hand picked by Naughty Dog themselves to helm it but nothing happened.
The current attempt has Shawn Levy directing Tom Holland as a young Nathan Drake accompanied by Bryan Cranston as Sully with Chris Pratt rumored to be an older Drake but that seems to be dead as well.
No one seems able to get the project across the starting line, so director Allan Unger pulled an Adi Shankar (a producer known for his series of bootleg productions such as Power/Rangers, Mr. Rogers: A War Hero and The Punisher: Dirty Laundry) and did it himself.
He cast fan favorite Nathan Fillion as Drake and Stephen Lang as Sully and as of right now, is the best movie based on a video game and it’s only 15 minutes long.
