‘Venom’ Writers in Talks to Script ‘Jumanji’ Sequel

Sony has their first non-Spidey hit in a long time, so they’re doubling down with new talent.

What intrigues me about film is the whole process. After awhile you start to see trends and the trajectory of studio ideas. Venom and Jumanji writers Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner are in talks to pen the Jumanji sequel that will reunite Dwayne Johnson and the entire cast. Director Jake Kasdan is expected to be back. It’s obvious they’re happy with Jumanji being a hit and they must be pleased with how Venom is turning out. If you look up who wrote the latest film (That’s currently killing it at the box office) on IMDB you’ll see this:

Chris McKenna (screenplay by) &
Erik Sommers (screenplay by) and
Scott Rosenberg (screenplay by) &
Jeff Pinkner (screenplay by)
Chris McKenna (screen story by)
Chris Van Allsburg (based on the book “Jumanji” by)
Greg Taylor (based on the film “Jumanji” screenplay by) &
Jim Strain (based on the film “Jumanji” screen story by) and
Chris Van Allsburg (based on the film “Jumanji” screen story by)
Jonathan Hensleigh (based on the film “Jumanji” screenplay by) and
Greg Taylor (based on the film “Jumanji” screen story by) &
Jim Strain (based on the film “Jumanji” screenplay by)

That’s a lot of writers, but it doesn’t surprise me. Because Hollywood.

So the question is: Where’s Chris McKenna for the sequel? Is he busy writing Homecoming 2? He did just write Ant-Man & The Wasp. Is Sony thinking Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner are the new golden geese of the studio?
